Story:

The story telling practice for my Culture is in many forms including symbols on rocks. Traditionally we collected rocks and woods and dotted on, carved into or imprinted on. the in Palawa (Tasmania) Today, I use the rocks or woods in creating jewellery with my symbols on them for joy and a remembrance of my ANcestors.

Many symbols were destroyed or damaged in the real Black history of Australia. ( look it up ) It is difficult to find or use Traditional language in the form of symbols. However, many Indigenous people are discovering past stolen words and documenting them. I have one of my tribes' language, but on the earrings I paint symbols that are universal. Gradually, I will return to country and seek more language ( words, symbols and signs) and add them on my artworks.

Care of Product:

My design pieces of wearable art are made with care and checked thoroughly, but they are delicate as it is a painted artwork created with Acrylic paint and Posca, inks and gels for detailing. It is suggested you treat them as a painting, with understanding that each one is hand painted on the small surface.

All product materials are purchased within Australia. The earring findings are 925 Sterling Silver from an Australian companies. I use their Sterling Silver jump rings or a Stainless Steel or steel based black and copper coloured jump rings which are perfect for sensitive skin as it contains slightly less nickel than Surgical Steel.

The woods, paints, painting pens, glitter and my tools are all purchased within local stores in Australia.

Best storage of jewellery is out of the sunlight and in a face up position, so the artwork stays undamaged. They can be sprayed with a top coat for long life and protection, but I leave them unsealed as an Artist so you can enjoy the initial Wow factor.

Swimming or bathing with them on is not recommended as the wood and materials are subject to damage with it.
