Story:
This painting on the wood is my love for Turtles. I had a pet turtle for over ten years who was a big part of our learning about our Culture. It is the freedom that turtles have when they swim alone or in a group that is so interesting.
"Turtles have a strong soul giving strength and harmony to those around them. We had a pet turtle for ten years which served as a wise soul in the house to help provide companionship, entertaining moves and love to us. The connection with this turtle inspired me to investigate turtles and how we learn from them and their way of life. We can imagine them swimming together as a family and our minds swimming with them in this painting. The artwork is designed to show how the inhabitants all successfully live together underwater in their loa maggalangta (deep water).
Care of Product:
My design pieces of wearable art are made with care and checked thoroughly, but they are delicate as it is a painted artwork created with Acrylic paint and Posca, inks and gels for detailing. It is suggested you treat them as a painting, with understanding that each one is hand painted on the small surface.
All product materials are purchased within Australia. The earring findings are 925 Sterling Silver from an Australian companies. I use their Sterling Silver jump rings or a Stainless Steel or steel based black and copper coloured jump rings which are perfect for sensitive skin as it contains slightly less nickel than Surgical Steel.
The woods, paints, painting pens, glitter and my tools are all purchased within local stores in Australia.
Best storage of jewellery is out of the sunlight and in a face up position, so the artwork stays undamaged. They can be sprayed with a top coat for long life and protection, but I leave them unsealed as an Artist so you can enjoy the initial Wow factor.
Swimming or bathing with them on is not recommended as the wood and materials are subject to damage with it.
